Temporary Marketing & Operations Associate (March-June)
Role Description:
Build Power Strategies is a social justice consulting firm seeking a Marketing Intern or Temporary Marketing Associate (March-June, with potential for extension) to support Kirstie and her assistant in their work of building the better world for all of us. This person will support the launch of a new endeavor supported by Build Power Strategies.
BPS helps progressive non-profits fundraise, create strong data systems, and engage in thriving cultures. Clients focus on a range of issues from electing progressives to fighting for healthcare for all to organizing against apartheid to pushing for an end to mandatory minimum sentences. Kirstie is the sole owner and consultant at the company, which is often booked out 4-6 months in advance. Clients are used to high touch, warm, and timely communications from Kirstie. From time to time, BPS supports clients in crisis situations which require immediate attention.
The Temporary Marketing & Operations Associate will work 10 hours a week, with occasional opportunities to pick up additional work if desired as they pick up skills for the role. Key skills for this role include attention to detail, project management, and independence. Strong preference is given to people who have previously volunteered in the movement.
Responsibilities, social media/email, 70%
Post all content on social media (content written by Kirstie—option to write some as well, if desired)
Input text onto pre-made templates for approval and post on Instagram and Facebook—option to write some as well, if desired
Manage Hoot Suite for days you are not working
Alert Kirstie to direct messages that need responses
Creation and sending of marketing emails

Create biweekly reports about Google ad rates to report on during staff meeting (we’ll train you)
Create biweekly reports on SEO outcomes (we’ll train you)
Create biweekly website analytics reports (we’ll train you)
Give a weekly update on registrations for classes
Manage the info@ inbox for The Fundraiser School for the days you are in the office and forward emails to the Executive Fundraising Assistant or Kirstie, depending on content
Search for places to promote our classes and post classes in those places (we’ll train you)
Once a month: Review scholarships for The Fundraiser School and pass them along to Kirstie for review
Occasionally: Input pre-written text into PowerPoints and other documents (pre-designed and branded)
Requirements
Commitment to the mission of Build Power Strategies, with relevant movement experience preferred
Past social media or marketing interning or paid work
Ability to work 3 days a week, M-F
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of the work of at least some of our current clients
Ability to work between the hours of 8am-6pm EST, with hours up to you
Based in New York or Minnesota (we will consider out of state candidates)

Compensation: $27 an hour
Position location: remote
Start date: ASAP
Benefits: this is a part-time temporary role and will receive pro-rated time off at 5 days off for the length of employment
